    Project

More than 35 million stray dogs and innumerable stray cats wander on the roads of India.

    - Livestock Census

Stray dogs are often seen on the streets of India. These voiceless creatures are reliant on the scraps given by the passersby, restaurants, and so on. In the present scenario, hundreds of cafes, restaurants, bakeries, shops, and establishments have been shut down. These strays were already living in horrible conditions and had to survive on scraps.

As we enter Lockdown 4.0, these stray animals need us now more than ever. Without proper food, they could die out of starvation.

Dogs like him hardly eat one proper meal in a week. What you feed them now could be their only meal in days.

While both cats and dogs are domesticated, most people think of only dogs as their friend. In most of the cases, cats are unwanted. However, they’re thousands of them who’re starving on the road. They’re gentle, calm and are in need of food.

However, the stray dogs and cats aren’t the only ones who’re in such a deplorable state. According to the Livestock Census, 2019, India is home to more than 19.34 million stray cattle. Stray cows who deserve to be on a farm eating fresh fodder with their calves are abandoned on the streets fighting for their survival. Before the Corona outbreak, the vegetable vendors and people in the markets often fed these stray cows with vegetable scraps, fruits and even leftover food.

Today, these stray animals are so malnourished, their bones can be seen. Help us feed them!

The biggest question many animal lovers, NGOs and activists had was, “Can we get COVID-19 if we are in close contact with stray animals?”.

The World Organisation for Animal Health later released a statement: “The current spread of COVID-19 is a result of human to human transmission. Therefore, there is no justification in taking measures against companion animals which may compromise their welfare.”

Cats like her can't even tell you they're hungry. All they can do is cry out in pain while their stomachs growl in hunger.

With the myths of COVID-19 animal to human transmission debunked, thousands of NGOs strived to provide food to stray dogs, stray cats and stray cattle. While we stay in our homes, out on the roads there are millions of stray animals starving. In times of crisis, it’s a chance for us to voice our support for these humble creatures.

These voiceless creatures don’t have anyone to depend on except you. Only, you can help them.

Come, join us to become the voice of the strays!
