Roopa Is A Ray Of Hope For Hundreds Of Injured Strays, Support Her Cause & Make A Difference

Roopa Patwardhan’s day starts at 3 AM in the morning. She goes out on the roads looking for injured and sick stray dogs who have no one to look after them. Once she rescues them, she brings them to her animal shelter - Simba Gopal Animal Centre in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, and looks after them till they’re all better. Not just Dewas, Roopa also carries out her rescue operations in Ujjain, Indore, and other places in western MP. Roopa’s shelter home is a haven for these abandoned animals who have only known pain and suffering.
Roopa’s journey started 10 years ago and since then there’s been no looking back
A postgraduate in Finance, Roopa had always been a die-hard animal lover. So, after finishing her studies, she decided to come back to her hometown in Dewas from Pune and started looking after the stray dogs.
“They’re voiceless but that doesn’t mean that they don’t feel any pain. People are so cruel to them and why? because they wanted to sleep in a shade on a hot afternoon or were running behind a bike for some food? My heart breaks when I see them suffer and I am determined to give these innocent beings a better life,” - Roopa Patwardhan, Animal Activist.
Roopa has been working day and night for the injured strays and had transformed her father’s factory premises into her shelter home. The shelter is now home to over a hundred dogs while Roopa feeds 600 dogs in the streets on a daily basis. She spends over 1.5 lakhs a month looking after these furbabies in need.
“People don’t think before poisoning them to catching hold of them with sharp pincers. Someone has to constantly remind the humans of what they can’t do to these animals. I want to give these dogs a life of comfort and happiness and I need your help for that.”
