Project
The development of rural India will be guided by their own priorities, their own ethos, and Shaan as an organization works on enabling and empowering the erstwhile disempowered.
When the government of India had released the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, we found our policies and our model in line with quite a few parameters enlisted in the vision document.
Our Akshara initiative is meant for reaching to the last mile and making education affordable and accessible to rural children. We have so far established 6 libraries in Uttar Pradesh and currently 8 in progress, the results are remarkable from the student’s end and thus it motivates me to expand the project to more states.
Through this initiative, we aim to encourage students of rural areas to continue with their higher studies by providing them with all available materials.
Areas of work of libraries:
1. Providing books for all kinds from ECCE to entrance exams
2. Prize distribution for top performers
3. Inculcating art of learning
4. Technology products like laptops and projectors
5. Computer languages and computer programming
6. National festivals and occasions
7. Training for vocational education from local artisans
8. Regular Quizzes
9. Data driven counseling
10. Painting Competition
11. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
Thus, our aim is to make a self-sufficient rural society where the student’s holistic development will be the priority.
We are delighted to inform you that our 7th and 8th libraries are being established in the memory of lt. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife lt. Madhulika Rawat. For the said purpose, funds for books, projectors, laptops will be required.
About the NGO
Shaan, instilling pride in one’s identity with knowledge and reaching to the last mile to provide them with infrastructure is our sole guiding force. At Shaan, we work on enhancing the ability of each student with data driven career counseling and focusing on the art of learning. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) and the rich cultural heritage of India, Shaan is driven by the vision of ‘Gramodyay se Rasthrodyay’.
