Donate a bar of soap at this hour of need

Every year about 1.8 million children under the age of 5 die from diarrhoea related diseases and pneumonia. A simple practice of hand washing with soap could protect about 1 out of every three young children who get sick with diarrhea and 1 out of 5 children who fall sick due to respiratory infections like pneumonia. To effectively fight with germs, it is very important to wash hands with soap and not just running water.

There are various many things in our life that we often take for granted. Like, a simple bar of soap. A bar of soap protects us from all kinds of germs that we use throughout our day without even giving much thought. A simple bar of soap keeps us healthy and safe from harmful diseases. Especially, at a time like today where a pandemic like the Corona Virus is risking the health of millions of Indians.

Imagine a child, a farmer or even a daily wage labourer living in rural India toiling throughout the day for a square meal. Can they afford a soap? As harsh as it might sound, this is the reality. 

This is the sad reality more than 364 million Indians go through every day. Sadly, they cannot do much about it. 

Doctors For You is an organization that strives to provide a bar of soap to individuals from under-served communities. Soap making can be an intensive process and could turn out to be quite expensive. Doctors For You recycles millions of bits and pieces of soap and turns them into bars of soap that can be used effectively. 

With the Corona Virus declared a pandemic across the country, this is the time we realize that healthcare and hygiene are mandatory. They are not privileges that should be limited to a bracket of people, but a basic necessity for everyone across the country. 

Doctors For You is conducting a Soap for Hope campaign in which they’ll reach out to children, the elderly, aged, and individuals from marginalized communities. Giving them a bar of soap can be as revolutionary as giving them hope.
