In the hilly region of Champawat, education is not just about textbooks and exams. It is deeply connected with social challenges like patriarchy, gender discrimination, caste bias, and lack of opportunities. These issues often affect the confidence and dreams of children and youth. In the past, some outside organizations came here with big promises. They collected funds from the community but failed to complete their commitments. Because of this, people now have trust issues. Whenever a new initiative begins, the first question is, “Will this also stop halfway?” Rebuilding this lost trust is one of our biggest goals.

Our team is made up completely of local youth. We belong to this region, we live here, and we want to create change here. Through Rang Shala, 3 local youth facilitators are working in 3 government schools, reaching more than 60 adolescents. They conduct sessions on social-emotional learning, life skills, gender equality, and responsible citizenship. These facilitators do not just teach lessons; they help children build confidence, communication skills, leadership, empathy, and self-expression. In remote mountain areas where access to guidance and quality support is limited, this model helps children believe that they too can become leaders of change. We have developed strong systems like baseline surveys, regular monitoring, training programs, and documentation to ensure that our work creates real and measurable impact.

Prangan Library and Learning Centre is another important part of this initiative. It provides a safe, creative, and inclusive space for children. Learning here is not limited to textbooks; it connects education with real life, creativity, and critical thinking. Through community efforts like the Tokari model, we have involved women, parents, and students, making education a shared responsibility of the whole community. Even with very limited financial resources, our team has never stopped the work. Many times, we used our personal money to travel to remote mountain schools, but we never compromised on the quality or continuity of the sessions.

Now, to strengthen and sustain this youth-led education model, we are seeking ₹10,00,000. This support will help provide honorariums for 3 local youth facilitators, advanced training, regular travel and field visits, library operations, community engagement activities, and impact assessment. 3. Travel & Field Monitoring – ₹210000
Travel costs for regular school visits in remote hilly areas and ongoing field coordination and monitoring.

4. Prangan Library Operations – ₹100000
Library management support, new books, activity materials, maintenance, and basic operational costs.

5. Monitoring, Evaluation & Documentation – ₹150000
Baseline and endline assessments, impact surveys, data management, reporting, and case study documentation.

6. Community Engagement (Tokari Model) – ₹50,000
Community meetings, gender dialogue sessions, parent engagement activities, and awareness materials.
