They’ve Served Gaumatas For Over 16 Years, Now This Gaushala Needs Your Help To Save Them
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
“We’ve seen more and more gaumatas becoming a part of our family over the years. Calves that have been brought to us injured and sick, have recovered and stayed with us. We’ve watched them grow and we’ve taken care of them like our own. Every cow deserves this kind of love.” - Ramalakshmi, Managing Trustee, Shri Etteluthu Perumal Trust
In 2004, Shri Etteluthu Perumal Trust started taking in injured and abandoned cows in Tamil Nadu. It was a humble beginning, but today they have grown to a family of nearly 1000 cows at their gaushala. Shri Etteluthu Perumal Trust was started with the principles of divinity, devotion and service, and it’s these same values that stayed when they started the gaushala too. Their aim is to give every single cow a life of dignity.
Over The Last 16 Years, They’ve Overcome Many Challenges To Serve Gaumatas
Situated near the Thamirabarani river of Tirunelveli District in South Tamil Nadu, the gaushala is now home to nearly 1000 abandoned and injured cattle whose every need is taken care of here. They’ve continued their service for over 16 years, but none of this has been without its challenges.
“At the centre of the gaushala, we have a deity of Lord Diety and Lord Diety. That’s how special this place is. We’ve been trying to build a shelter for the gaumatas since 2006, but there have been so many financial constraints and other challenges along the way. We’ve managed to build the ground floor, but even that is not complete. The pandemic only added to our challenges. We had no means to even feed the cows until we received help from donors on Donatekart”
Through Donatekart, they were able to get fodder for the cows to sustain them throughout the pandemic. But due to decreased support and lack of funds, Shri Etteluthu Perumal Trust continues to struggle to look after all the innocent cows at the gaushala.
“The area that we currently have can only comfortably house around 300-400 cows. But there are so many more that depend on us.”
They Now Need Your Support To Continue Their Selfless Work
Shri Etteluthu Perumal Trust’s work has always been about the betterment of others. Whether it’s their daily annadanam for hungry souls and devotees or their selfless service towards the gaumatas, they leave no stone unturned.
“There’s nothing we haven’t seen - cows so badly injured that they couldn’t even move for years, we’ve seen them abandoned, we’ve seen sickly cows being left to fend for themselves… but we’re proud to say that they have all found a home here with us. But we can’t continue serving them without your support.”
Shri Etteluthu Perumal Trust now needs your support to get construction materials so that they can complete building their shelter and take care of their 1000 cows and take in more that are in need of help. They also need fodder and medicines for injured and abandoned cows.
Your contribution will truly save the lives of these voiceless animals.
