Help Prerana Foundation provide Sanitary Pads to Government School Girls

Menstruation is a natural and an important biological process in every girl/woman's life. Despite it being so natural and important, there is a sense of secrecy and taboo associated with it and any discussion pertaining to it. Not many girls/women are aware about the care to be taken and the hygienic methods to be followed during this period. Due to this lack of awareness , many of them, mostly belonging to the poorer sections of the society, are not able to have a clean and healthy menstruation. In many cases normal cloth is used in lieu of sanitary napkins due to lack of financial wherewithal. This results in a variety of infections and urogenital diseases. Many girls studying in

government schools opt out/ drop out precisely because of this reason. Therefore, Prerana Foundation wants to create awareness about menstrual hygiene among girls/women from poorer sections of the society and would also be distributing sanitary napkins to them free of cost.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we distributed vegetables free of cost to migrant labourers and poor people at five different locations in Hyderabad city. We have also distributed groceries to 50 sanitation workers who are doing their jobs putting themselves at risk. We have distributed eggs to 100 Asha workers and ANMs . In cooperation with Sphoorti Foundation we have supplied groceries to 150 private school teachers. 

The second wave of the pandemic has affected everyone and the poor remain the most affected, due to lack of nutritious food and immunity strengthening measures. Affordability of the same is an issue for them. Taking this into cognizance, we have been distributing 'Health Immunity Kits' to the ones who have tested Covid positive at various test centres in EC Nagar, Hyderabad for the last one month.

Pure foundation has cooperated with us to distribute groceries to 80 differently abled persons and single women. We have also distributed 2000 eggs to the Covid isolation centre that is in operation under the aegis of Sundarayya Vignana Kendram.

We have distributed groceries to 150  municipal workers in Kapra municipality. During the lockdown we distributed vegetables to 3000 industrial workers in the Cherlapally area. also gave eggs and fruits to frontline warriors in telangana and andhra region .also helped 50  private school teachers by giving groceries. 

Also distributed groceries for challenged people and single women in Hyderabad. Also helped 500 covid positive patients by distributing eggs and fruits for gaining immunity.

About the NGO

Prerana Foundation is a Hyderabad based NGO formed in 2014.since its inception we are doing various social activities in both telugu states and concentrating mainly on children education and women empowerment. Till today we sponsored 30 students for education and given training to 200 women in tailoring and fashion designing and distributed sewing machines. We also conduct seminars and workshops for women bringing awareness for their empowerment.
