Nikhil Biswal is 13 years old, but his life has been measured not in birthdays or school terms, but in hospital visits and transfusion dates.

Since early childhood, his body has been unable to produce healthy blood on its own. He has been living with Thalassemia Major, a lifelong disorder that forces him to depend on transfusions again and again just to survive.

Every few weeks, his strength fades. His skin turns pale. His energy disappears. And the family knows it is time to rush back to the hospital.

This cycle has repeated for years. While other children build memories of playgrounds and classrooms, Nikhil remembers hospital corridors.

“He asks me why he cannot run like other boys. I don’t know how to answer him. A mother is supposed to explain the world to her child. How do I explain a disease that even I cannot understand?” Nikhil’s mother

A Family Living Between Hospital Bills And Hope

Nikhil’s father works as a construction laborer, earning around ₹1000 a day when work is available. His income stops the moment he misses a shift. His wife stays home to care for Nikhil, whose health can change overnight.

Every transfusion means lost wages. Every emergency means borrowing money. The family has survived year after year by stretching every rupee, selling belongings, and depending on kindness.

But Thalassemia does not pause. It only grows heavier.

“I am not afraid of hard work. I am afraid of the day I cannot afford his treatment. A father should be able to protect his child. Right now, I feel helpless,” his father says.

A Cure Exists. But It Is Far Beyond Their Reach

Doctors have told the family that Nikhil’s only long-term chance at survival is a Haplo Bone Marrow Transplant.

This treatment could end years of transfusions. It could give him a body that finally supports him instead of fighting him.

Nikhil is undergoing treatment at Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center, Bangalore, where doctors are preparing him for the transplant. Time is critical. His body has already endured years of medical strain.

The family has exhausted savings, loans, and every possible source of help. There is nothing left except hope that strangers will step in where their finances cannot.

If the transplant is delayed, his condition will continue to weaken him. Not because medicine has failed him, but because treatment costs more than his family can ever afford.

Please donate and help Nikhil survive.

For example: if you made donations between April 2025 and March 2026 (FY 2025-26), you will get your 10BE by 31st May 2026, provided you need to claim the 80G for these donations.

Please note that you cannot claim 80G for donations made between April 2024 and March 2025 (FY 2024-25) anymore as the window for claiming it has closed. However, you can still get the 10BEs for that year if you made 80G claims on or before 31st July 2025.
