This 2-Year-Old Has Spent More Time In Hospitals Than At Home

Jatothu Ruthvij is two years old. At an age when most children are just beginning to explore the world, Ruthvij’s life has already been shaped by hospital rooms, medical tests, and constant treatment.

He has been diagnosed with Thalassemia Major, a lifelong condition that prevents his body from functioning normally without medical intervention.

Every few weeks, his health dips suddenly. His energy disappears. His parents rush him back to the hospital, hoping the treatment arrives in time yet again.

“He does not understand why we keep taking him away from home. He cries when he sees doctors and needles. I tell him it will be okay, even when I am scared every moment,” his mother says.

A Family Trying To Hold Life Together

Ruthvij’s father works in a private company with a fixed monthly income. It barely stretches to cover daily expenses. His mother is a homemaker who stays beside Ruthvij, watching for the smallest change in his condition.

“I go to work every day pretending everything is normal. But my mind is always with my son. I am afraid of the day my income is not enough to save him,” his father says.

One Treatment That Can Change Everything

Doctors have told the family that Ruthvij’s only chance at a normal life is a Haplo Bone Marrow Transplant.

This treatment can end years of repeated medical dependence. It can allow him to grow up without hospitals controlling his childhood. For a family dependent on a single salary, the amount for treatment is overwhelming.

Ruthvij is currently undergoing care at Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center, where doctors are preparing him for the transplant. Time matters. Delays can reduce his chances.
