Just A Few Weeks Away From His 1st Birthday, Baby Arish Fights Cancer

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

Arish, an 11-month-old cheerful little boy, met every milestone early. He has four tiny teeth, walks with support, and has already begun calling his parents ammi and abbu, but a stubborn fever changed everything. Today, he is fighting cancer.

Before he could even turn one, Arish has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He needs chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to survive.

A Sudden Illness Shattered a Happy Home
He never had any medical problems. He was always smiling and active, but when his fever refused to go below 100 degrees for almost half a month, it terrified us. Despite medicines and repeated visits to the hospital, Arish only got weaker.” - Reshma, mother

When the diagnosis finally came, it broke the family. Abdul, the father, could not bring himself to tell his wife for five days. For Reshma, the world collapsed. But she had no choice except to stay strong in front of her child, who clings to her for comfort every minute of the day.

A Father Sleeping in the Hospital Lobby, A Mother Hiding Her Tears
Reshma stays inside the hospital room with Arish. Abdul, unable to afford a rented room, spends his days and nights in the hospital lobby and only gets a few hours with his child.

All this feels so unfair. He is just a baby, why is God punishing him for this? Somehow we are managing to be strong. We try to save every penny we can, even if it mea. ns I have to give up sleep and food. But still, that won’t be enough to fight cancer and save my son.” - Abdul, father

A Brave Little Brother and a Baby Bound to a Hospital Bed

Arish’s three and a half year old brother is still too young to understand the depth of the situation. He might be a potential bone marrow donor. When the parents explained that giving blood might help his baby brother get better, he agreed without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Arish, who should be taking his first independent step and exploring every corner, is confined within hospital walls. “He tries to pull out the tube attached to his nose for feeding, not understanding why it is there. Doctors had to tie his tiny hands for his safety. He looks at me with all innocence for help but I myself am helpless…” - Reshma

They Cannot Afford the Cure, They Need Your Help

The only way to save Arish is continued chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant. The cost is 35 lakh, an unimaginable amount for a family surviving on a small monthly income. Abdul works at a fertiliser shop as a worker and Reshma is a homemaker. They have already spent four lakh using their savings and borrowing from the shop owner Abdul works for. But the required amount is ten times more.

Baby Arish is fighting a deadly disease at an age when he should be celebrating his first birthday with giggles, toys and family. His parents have nothing left to give except their love and hope. You can keep the hope alive, help them save their little one.
