For years, Saifullah Attar’s grandfather has served as a Maulana, guiding people through faith, leading prayers, comforting families during their hardest moments, and teaching others to never lose hope in Allah’s mercy.

Whenever someone in the community faced illness or hardship, they turned to him for prayers.

Today, the Maulana finds himself making the same prayer over and over again, not for a stranger, but for his own grandson.

“Every day, I ask Allah for one thing, that my grandson gets the chance to live a healthy life. I have prayed for countless people over the years, but this is the hardest dua I have ever made,” he says.

His grandson, Saifullah Attar, is just 7 years old. At an age when most children spend their days studying, playing, and dreaming about the future, Saifullah’s childhood has been consumed by hospital visits, blood tests, and regular blood transfusions.

He has been diagnosed with Thalassemia, a severe blood disorder that prevents his body from producing healthy blood on its own. Since childhood, he has depended on frequent transfusions just to survive.

While other children count down the days to holidays and birthdays, Saifullah’s family counts down the days until his next transfusion.

“Sometimes he asks why he has to keep going to hospitals when his friends do not. It breaks our hearts because we do not know how to explain this pain to a child,” his family shares.

Doctors at Narayana Hospital, Bangalore have advised an urgent bone marrow transplant, the only treatment that can free him from a lifetime of transfusions and give him a chance at a healthy future.

The transplant is very expensive, it’s an amount far beyond what the family can afford.

For his grandfather, every prayer now carries the same wish. Not for wealth. Not for comfort. Just for the chance to see his grandson grow up healthy.

Saifullah deserves a childhood filled with school, laughter, and play, not hospital wards and endless medical procedures.
