Every year, as Diwali approaches, Mangaldip's father spends his days carefully crafting idols of gods and goddesses. With his hands, he gives shape to the deities that families welcome into their homes with devotion, prayers and hope.
But this Diwali, while countless homes light up with diyas and celebrations, there is only one prayer in this father's heart. He wants his 10-year-old son to live.
Mangaldip has been diagnosed with thalassemia, a serious blood disorder that prevents his body from producing enough healthy haemoglobin. Children living with this condition often depend on regular blood transfusions and continuous medical care to survive.
While other children his age look forward to new clothes, sweets, crackers and celebrations, Mangaldeep's family is worried about something far more important. His health and his future.
A Father Who Makes Idols For Others Is Struggling To Save His Own Child
For Mangaldip's father, idol making is more than a profession. It is a skill that requires patience, devotion and hours of hard work. Every idol he completes helps him earn a living and provide for his family.
But no matter how many idols he makes or how many hours he works, his earnings cannot come close to what his son now needs.
Mangaldip is receiving medical care at Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center in Bengaluru, where a bone marrow transplant has been advised to give him a chance at a healthier life.
The estimated cost is ₹31.5 lakh, an amount that has left his family overwhelmed.
For a father who earns his living through his hands, arranging such a large sum is an impossible challenge. Yet giving up on his son is something he cannot imagine.
This Diwali, His Greatest Wish Is To See His Son Healthy Again
At just 10 years old, Mangaldip deserves a childhood filled with school, friends, laughter and celebrations. He deserves to look forward to festivals without his family having to worry about his next medical appointment.
A bone marrow transplant could offer him the chance to live without the constant burden of thalassemia and its ongoing care.
As families across the country pray to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity and happiness this Diwali, Mangaldeep's father is praying for something that no amount of wealth can replace. His son's health.
He has spent years creating idols that become a part of other families' prayers. This Diwali, your kindness can help answer his prayers by bringing light, hope, and happiness into his life this Diwali. .
Come forward and help Mangaldip receive the ₹31.5 lakh bone marrow transplant he urgently needs. Let this Diwali bring the gift of hope and a healthier future to a 10-year-old boy.
