Jayaprakash was just returning home from work when a speeding car hit him and fled, leaving him critically injured on the road.
The impact caused severe brain damage. He was rushed for emergency treatment, where doctors had to perform a major brain surgery and remove a part of his skull to relieve the pressure building inside his head.
For 12 long days, Jayaprakash remained unconscious in the ICU, fighting silently between life and death.
Today, he has opened his eyes. But the man his wife once knew is slowly slipping away.
Whenever he tries to speak, unbearable pain stops him. Most days, he simply stares silently at the people around him, unable to understand who they are.
“When I stand in front of him, he looks at me like I’m a stranger. He doesn’t call me by my name anymore. Sometimes I keep talking to him, hoping he will remember our life together,” says his wife, Snegha, breaking down.
The accident did not just injure Jayaprakash’s body. It damaged the memories that connected him to the people he loved the most.
At home in Tamil Nadu, two little daughters wait for their father.
One is just 2 years old and still learning to call out “Papa.” The younger one is only 4 months old, too small to even understand why her father has not come home.
“The hardest part is when I mention our daughters and he cannot remember their names. I don’t know how to explain this pain to anyone,” Snegha says softly.
Jayaprakash was the only earning member of the family, working as a daily wage labourer to support his wife and children. Since the accident, the family has lost not just their income, but also the life they once knew.
Doctors say he urgently needs another critical brain surgery to restore his cognitive functions and give him a chance at recovery.
The treatment will cost ₹5.4 lakhs, an amount impossible for the family to arrange on their own after already spending everything they had trying to save him.
Every day, Snegha sits beside her husband’s hospital bed, hoping he will one day recognize her again, speak to his daughters again, and come back to the family waiting for him.
Please come forward and help Jayaprakash get the life-saving surgery he urgently needs.
