Blood Cancer Took His Smile. Your Kindness Can Bring It Back

At 5 years and 10 months, Devansh should be busy with homework, his favorite cartoons, or choosing which toy to play with next. Instead, he’s resting in a hospital room at CMC Ludhiana, his energy drained by a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Devansh, once a vibrant, playful spirit from a peaceful Himachal town, is now on the most difficult journey of his young life. His parents are doing everything they can for hope, health, and another chance at childhood.

It all started with a sudden high fever and vomiting. 

At first, his parents, Priti and Umesh, brought him to a local doctor. He was given treatment and sent home, even managed to go to school for a couple of days, but he wasn’t his usual cheerful self.

When the fever returned, they rushed him to another specialist, hoping for answers. Blood tests brought devastating news: “Your son is seriously ill.” Shocked and heartbroken, his parents were referred to CMC Ludhiana, where doctors recommended immediate treatment. Devansh’s journey began, days filled with tests, unfamiliar medicine, and quiet hours in isolation.

His immune system remains fragile. Playtime is replaced by procedures, his laughter by silence. And yet, his small hand still reaches out for comfort, longing to hold his mother’s hair at night.

Devansh’s father, Umesh, manages a small store and does all he can to support both his child and his ailing father. But the cost of treatment, almost Rs. 8,00,000/- is overwhelming. Their savings are depleted. Priti, his mother, can barely eat or sleep, exhausted by worry and fear. Umesh stays strong for his family, but when alone, the weight of it all is too much to bear.

What could be harder for parents than seeing their child in pain and feeling powerless? 

Their only wish is this: “Please don’t let us lose our son because of what we cannot afford.”Devansh doesn’t understand medical terms. All he wants is to return to the comfort of home, to school, to his mother’s arms, to be a child once more.
