18-Day Old Baby Is Fighting For Life Already, Help Her With A Chance To Survive.

“What could be more saddening for a mother not to be able to carry her child without hurting”, says Asmina, the mother of the child. She cries in pain. "I feel helpless." This newborn, 18 days old, has already been dealt with harshness even before she can be named. Born in a remote village called Navada in West Bengal, this baby has never known comfort, only pain. The doctors have diagnosed her with a rare illness called Spina Bifida Aperta with Meningomyelocele and Tethered Cord. It is a type of neural tube defect that has resulted in a growth on her spine. It has turned into a bump that is so enormous that she cannot be carried.

20-something parents, farming as an occupation, and a dire need for 25 lakhs. 

The mother, Asmina Sulthana (20), and her husband (24) are farmers on someone else's field. They are in no condition to afford the life-saving surgery their baby requires. After visiting various hospitals, the doctors told the parents that the operation is her sole hope for healing. And it will cost no less than Rs. 25,00,000, which is an obscure amount for a family struggling to afford daily meals.

"I am the only son, and my father is old and bedridden", Mintu explains, his voice breaking. "We can't expect money from Asmina's side of the family, they aren't very well-to-do either."

A normal family life now only seems to be a dream. 

As much as they feel blessed to have a child, the young couple’s lives have flipped the instant she was born. With no financial support from either side of the family, the couple crossed mountains to get from West Bengal to Bangalore, hoping for a miracle.
