Arfa is just 4 years old. At an age when most children spend their days playing with toys, learning new words, and filling their homes with laughter, Arfa’s childhood has been overshadowed by hospital visits, blood tests, and repeated blood transfusions. She has been diagnosed with Thalassemia, a severe blood disorder that prevents her body from producing healthy blood on its own. Since she was very young, her life has depended on regular medical treatment just to stay healthy.

For Arfa’s father, every hospital visit is a painful reminder of a battle he never imagined his little daughter would have to fight. He works as a coolie mestri, taking on physically demanding labour every day to earn enough to support his family. The work is hard, the income is uncertain, and yet he has never hesitated to do whatever it takes for his children.

“I carry bricks, cement, and heavy loads every day. I never thought the heaviest burden I would carry would be watching my daughter suffer like this,” he says.

Over the years, the family has watched Arfa endure countless transfusions, medicines, and hospital visits. While other children her age run around freely, Arfa often finds herself inside hospital wards, too young to understand why she cannot simply be like everyone else.

Doctors have now advised an urgent bone marrow transplant, the only treatment that can free her from a lifetime of transfusions and give her a chance at a healthy future.

Amidst the fear and uncertainty, there is a ray of hope.Arfa’s 12-year-old elder brother has been found to be a matching donor. Without hesitation, he is ready to help save his little sister's life.

The bond that once meant sharing toys and childhood memories may now become the reason Arfa gets a second chance at life.

“When my son heard he could help his sister, he didn't ask any questions. He only wanted to know when she would get better,” says their father.

But while a donor has been found, the family continues to struggle with the enormous burden of treatment expenses. For a daily wage worker, arranging such a large amount is impossible.

Every day, Arfa’s father leaves for work carrying the same worry in his heart. He works long hours under the sun, knowing that no amount of labour can guarantee the treatment his daughter urgently needs.

“As a father, all I want is to see my daughter grow up healthy. I want to see her go to school, play with her friends, and live without hospitals becoming a part of her childhood,” he says.

She deserves the chance to laugh freely, dream freely, and grow up healthy alongside her brother. Today, her family is doing everything they can to save her. They are only hoping that others will stand beside them in this fight.
