Kartavya Wants To Give Hundreds Of Stray Dogs A Happier & Healthier Life, Support Them

“A few years ago, I found a dog with her puppies on the road. They were all severely malnutritioned and couldn’t find anything to eat. Finally, they started rummaging through the garbage and even eating cow dung. It wrecked my heart. But that was the moment I truly understood how much stray dogs suffer on a daily basis and I knew I just had to do something to help.” - Riddhi Paliwal, co-founder, Kartavya Animal And Social Welfare Society 

How it all began

Riddhi and Akash Saxena met during a coaching class and immediately realised they had something in common - their love for animals. At that moment, they decide to come together to work towards the welfare of animals. Hence, Kartavya Animal And Social Welfare Society was founded in 2014 with a common goal, to rescue, feed and rehabilitate animals in need.

“We can proudly say we have been feeding over 600 dogs every day and we ensure they are vaccinated on time, spayed, neutered and their medical needs are taken care of. We are truly like a family now, and every dog is important to us.” 

Riddhi and Akash also have a Foster care where they give injured animals a safe home. Critical cases are given round the clock care and sometimes, this foster care also becomes a permanent home for some dogs who can’t survive on the streets any longer. All the animals are taken care of with utmost love at Kartavya. 

The challenges of the pandemic

Getting healthy and good quality food is a basic necessity for every living being, however, these strays go days without even a single bite of food. This was only made worse by the pandemic and lockdowns. The few leftover courses of food that they got were taken away from them. Kartavya has continued their feeding drive throughout the pandemic. 

“They depend on us, they are our responsibility. It’s been difficult with the pandemic and managing our professional studies along with our passion for animals. But we know we can’t stop now. They need us now more than ever. We’ve never thought of giving up on them.” 

How You Can Help

Riddhi and Akash have been working tirelessly for the welfare of hundreds of stray animals, but now they need your help. With your support, they can get food, blankets and medicines for over 600 helpless strays and more.

“It’s becoming increasingly difficult for us to manage feeding and taking care of all of them. We need your help to get food so that these strays can stay healthy. The blankets will help us give injured dogs a more comfortable space at our foster home and tick medicines will protect them from other diseases. About the NGO:

Kartavya Animal And Social Welfare Society was started by Riddhi Paliwal and Akash Saxena in 2014 in Bhopal. Since then, they have been feeding over 600 dogs every day and also rescue and rehabilitate injured dogs. Their aim is to feed and care for as many strays as possible, while helping them have a better life.
