Story of the changemaker
Rajni* and Simran* are ready to take on the world! Thanks to Voice of Children Bharat's vocational training program, they've become skilled tailors and are now equipped to launch their businesses. The future is bright for these young women who were born in the slums of Ghaziabad and had never thought of escaping the vicious cycle of poverty and exploitation.
Voice of Children Bharat (VOCB), an initiative of Prerna Sewa Sansthan, has been a beacon of hope since 2012, uplifting hundreds of children in the slums of Delhi and NCR. Every day, over 150 children come to VOCB seeking refuge, most of whom are orphans, abandoned, or from broken homes. Many are children of migrant workers from Bihar, Odisha, and Assam, whose parents struggle to feed them even once a day.
Vulnerable and helpless, they don't know where to turn for help
These children face unimaginable hardships. Many have been abused, forced into child labour, or even married off at a young age. They spend their days picking rags, starving, and often falling into substance abuse. Vulnerable and helpless, they don't know where to turn for help or how to envision a better future.
Tarun Manav and his dedicated team are working tirelessly to change this narrative. "We believe every child deserves a chance at a better life," says Tarun. "We provide nutritious food, vocational training, and support to help these children stand on their own feet and integrate into mainstream society."
Over the years, Tarun has borne witness to the desperate lives of these children in the slums. Their days are spent begging for a morsel of food. These unfortunate kids often don't have a safe home to go back to but within the walls of VOCB, they can escape the brutal reality of the streets. In this loving environment, they discover a new purpose, the strength to dream, and the courage to chase those dreams.

Tarun shares that the upcoming monsoons pose a significant challenge, as they urgently need to build a shed for the children who come to study. Additionally, VOCB aims to expand its infrastructure to make a permanent shelter home, providing these kids with a loving and nurturing environment.

About the NGO: Founded in 2012 by Tarun Manav, Voice of Children Bharat is an NGO based out of Ghaziabad. They bridge the gap for out-of-school children (ages 4-12), offering them a lifeline back into formal education. But VOCB goes beyond textbooks. They provide medical care, counseling, and nutritious meals – the essential building blocks for a healthy mind and body. Here, children rediscover not just the joy of learning, but the very essence of childhood – freedom, dignity, and the chance to chase their dreams.
