Lets bring change to lives by helping rural upliftment in Maharashtra

There are many districts in India that are totally underdeveloped and backward till today. People in these districts live a life that is almost nightmarish to most of us. They spend days where they eat once in a day while trying to find some work. Care for the children and the elderly in these regions is diminishing for many reasons. Without schools, hospitals, and work that pay them, they try to survive in a never-ending cycle of scarcity.  

Kolad Village is one such area located near Roha Tehsil, Raigarh district of Maharashtra, India. Lack of natural resources, parts of infertile land, poor communication, erratic rain, isolation from man-made resources are some of the reasons why Kolad is industrially and economically poor. 

As a gram panchayat, it is home to 2400 families. The Kolad village is connected with 12 different villages with 71-80 households in every village, with an average of 3-4 people living in each family. Most of the population is of Senior Citizens and Children, as the youth has been migrating to metros in search of education and jobs. 

Major problems in Kolad:

• Poor Senior Citizens

• Lack of Medical Assistance

• Malnutrition

• Lack of Basic Infrastructure 

The people of Kolad are mainly facing the following four problems: 

Problem 1:

#1 Homeless Senior Citizens: With children moving away from home for job options, elders have to stay alone. They become sick and destitute with the families abandoning them and eventually die without anyone to care.

Solution (Project Kartavya): Providing the monthly meal plans to support the seniors in Kolad, where they can't find employment to earn daily bread and butter!

Problem 2: 

#2 Lack of Medical Help: The parents who are daily wage workers keep the children away from medical help due to cash-constrained situations - leading to children getting deadly diseases.

Solution (Project Poshan): Initiatives (Blood tests and Eye tests) to assist the children and the elderly timely on case to case basis.

Problem 3:

#3 Malnutrition: Due to the lack of holistic development and growth during formative stages, the children in Kolad are highly malnourished. 

Solution (Project Bal Poshan): Providing safe, nutritious, and fortified meals to children and mothers along with Health and Nutrition community awareness activities.

Problem 4:

#4 Lack of Infrastructure: The schools in Kolad are in need of basic infrastructure and resources to be able to provide good quality education.

Solution (Project Magic Box): Reaching out to such schools and enabling them with better amenities and resources to help them create the right learning environment for the underprivileged children.

A society that abandons children and the elderly darkens its future. It is only between 18-55; we are properly able to take full care of ourselves. How would you be if no one took you to school when you're 10? How do you think you will end up, without anyone to look after you, at 60? The thoughts might have brought chills down your spine. People in Kolad are living these scary thoughts. The elderly  are alone in their homes without food to eat, confronting and fighting diseases. The children dream of going to schools but don't have resources to grow out of poverty.
