Make This Festive Season More Meaningful By Feeding Someone In Need

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

In the last two years, not one day has passed in Matru’s life when he didn’t worry about feeding his family - his 4-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter, his wife, and his old mother. He had lost his job during the pandemic and since then, he has been doing odd jobs to support his family. The money he gets is not fixed. On most days - his wife and he sleep on empty stomachs. Matru can feel that he is getting weak - the other day while working at a construction site, he fainted.  The poor man spends his days slogging and the nights worrying about the next day.

This is not just Matru’s story, there are many more like him. Hunger continues to be one of the major challenges India faces even today. Currently 101 on the Global Index Score, countless underprivileged people in India continue to struggle to get even one meal a day.

Let’s do our bit to help those who are going to bed hungry every single day. This festive season, while we celebrate with our loved ones, their fight for survival continues. But we can make it special for them too by ensuring they get fresh and nutritious food.

    The Pandemic Worsened The Situation

While millions already struggle with hunger, the pandemic that began in 2020 only made their condition worse. Several people lost their jobs, their homes, their families, and their livelihoods. Many laborers in India rely on daily wages for their survival, and with the ongoing crisis, they have had no means to even earn the minimum wage.

Families were starving as they struggled to afford medical care for their loved ones. The pandemic left millions more without any help. And their struggle continues.

    There’s A Silver Lining

However, amid these challenges, there are several NGOs across the country who have come forward to lend a helping hand to all those suffering due to hunger. Delhi-based NGO, Voice of Slum is one of the major ones that have done tremendous work in helping those in need.

Voice of Slum is a non-profit, youth-driven organization, founded by Dev and Chandni, that is working relentlessly to transform the lives of slum kids of Noida.

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, their efforts have been relentless as they have helped thousands of migrant workers and slum dwellers get oxygen supplies, grocery kits, and other essentials to survive the crisis. They focus on giving the slum children a better life - one that is drastically different from their childhood. Growing up in slums, the founders of this NGO are aware of how hard life can get without proper support. So they have dedicated their lives to uplifting the underprivileged.

Your contribution will ensure more hungry and homeless people in Delhi are given fresh and nutritious meals so that they can survive. You will help them get breakfast like idli, upma, and lunch and dinner of dal, rice, puri, sabzi, etc. This will not only keep them healthy but will also give them hope for a better future.

    However, it’s not enough.

“Hunger is a constant issue that needs regular intervention. Children of poor families, the old, and the diseased are suffering on a daily basis and we at Voice of Slum want to help them. You can support us by donating as much as you can - it will save countless lives,” - Dev, Co-founder, Voice of Slum.
