The food offered on Mahalaya Amavasya is said to directly reach our ancestors, ensuring they remain satisfied in the other world. If they remain unsatisfied, it is believed that misfortune lingers across generations.
Shri Mateshwari Annakshetra’s Mission
For over 18 years, Shri Mateshwari Annakshetra has been dedicated to serving saints and seekers in the Himalayas with food, water, and medicines. This Mahalaya Amavasya, 21st September 2025, they are determined to provide Annadanam (sacred food offering) to over 1,500 saints and devotees who live in renunciation.
These holy souls, who have given up worldly ties, depend solely on the kindness of strangers for sustenance. By offering food to them on this sacred day, you are directly paying homage to your ancestors.

About the NGO: Shri Mateshwari Annakshetra Samiti has been selflessly serving Himalayan Sadhus for over 18 years. From Rishikesh to the remote regions of Uttarkashi and Gangotri, they provide daily meals, medicines, warm clothing, blankets, and other essentials to Sadhus surviving extreme mountain conditions. With dedicated convoys reaching remote locations every two weeks, the trust ensures no Sadhu is left without support.
