This Pitru Paksha, Respect And Honour Your Ancestors By Feeding Hungry Sadhus In Varanasi
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
Story of the changemaker
Pitru Paksha, a time when we remember and honour our ancestors, is considered one of the most sacred periods in the Hindu calendar. It is believed that during these days, our ancestors visit us in the guise of sadhus to accept offerings of food and water.
This year, Pitru Paksha falls between September 17th and October 2nd, and you can be a part of this divine occasion and offer deep reverence to your ancestors.
For the sadhus, the world is their family, and by serving them, we can pay tributes to our ancestors
In Varanasi, the holy city where the Ganges flows, thousands of sadhus—spiritual seekers and ascetics—gather on the ghats to immerse themselves in prayers and devotion. These holy men, who have renounced worldly possessions, depend entirely on the kindness of strangers for their daily survival.
This Pitru Paksha, Hope Welfare Trust is committed to feeding these sadhus with nutritious meals, offering them not just food, but also hope and happiness. By joining this feeding drive, you can be a part of something truly meaningful—paying homage to your ancestors while supporting those who dedicate their lives to spiritual pursuits.
"Seeing them tired and weak, resting under trees, breaks our hearts. But when we offer them warm meals and see their hands lifted in blessing, it fills us with a deep sense of fulfillment and joy,” - a member of Hope Welfare Trust

About the NGO: An initiative by youngsters with a will to change society, especially in rural India, Hope Welfare Trust started as a nascent movement in Varanasi in September 2015. A few students from various universities and colleges joined hands to promote sustainable development in rural Indian villages and involve women in a key role. They have also done commendable work in feeding countless sadhus starving for days.
