Support and cheer up the Kanwar pilgrims to Baba Baidyanath Dham

After a gap of two years, Kanwar yatra is taking place in Shravan month this time starting 14 Jul 22. The devotees of Diety start their Kanwar Yatra after filling Ganga Jal from Utrarvahini Ganga at Ganga Dham in Sultanganj, Bihar, and trek 105 km to Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, Jharkhand and offer Jalabhishek to Lord Diety and further proceed another 45 km to Baba Basukinath temple to offer the Jalabhishek to Baba Basukinath and their Kanwar Yatra culminates. They proceed to their homes with the blessings of Lord Diety.

The tradition of carrying Kanwar or water pots started in Treta yuga when Lord Rama moved Ganges water from Sultanganj in Kanwar and offered Jalabhishek to Lord Diety at Babadham. This mention is also found in Anand Ramayan.

The Shravan month is devoted to Lord Diety as this is the month when cosmic churning or Samudra Manthan took place and Lord Diety consumed Halahal or poison and since then he is being offered Jalabhishek.

It is a very holy month and carrying Kanwar and offering Jalabhishek to Lord Diety is considered very sacred hence lakhs of pilgrims or Kanwariyas throng Babadham at Deoghar from all over the country.

Serving these kanwariyas in their sacred mission is also very pious and blissful. A lot of camps are established en route to Babadham and Baba Basukinath along the 150 km stretch to serve free meals, medicines, and rest to these Kanwariyas.
