Story of the changemaker
India, a developing nation with some of the best cities. Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi, these are the hubs for generating employment. With many segments of the corporate world competing for growth, these companies thrive on their employees. Not the ones who’re on their payroll inside swanky offices, but the laborers who carry sand, bricks, and mortar to bring the skyscraper to life. The Corona pandemic damaged the already-hurt economy but has sent these daily wage workers into an abyss. An overnight government order for a lockdown crippled these workers and hit them where it hurts the most, their stomachs.
Without any work and daily wages, these workers are suffering. It’s not only the construction workers but also the domesticated helpers, push-cart vendors, street vendors, masons, painters and the list goes on. It’s been days since these families have eaten properly. Their children are starving.
"We are dying here because of hunger. What are we going to eat if we don't earn”,
said, Mr Kumar, a rickshaw puller.
Mr Kumar was one amongst the thousands of labourers who were seen walking along the highways from cities back to their villages. They feed their families with the meagre income they earn and their children are found working, not studying.
These daily wage workers in Metro cities are struggling to survive. Their families are stranded on the roads in the scorching heat. Their children are crying for food. They need you to come out and save them. These grocery kits that you donate to can help feed a family for four days. You can start by helping them with as little as you can. The grocery kits will be distributed in Various cities across INDIA. Considering the logistics in the regions and material goes in a kit, the grocery kits are priced.
