Siddhartha And Sudha Are Working Tirelessly To Give 40+ Elderly A Better Life, You Can Help Them
Project
Born to a poor farmer family in a village in Andhra Pradesh, Paluri Siddhartha knew the exact feeling when you have to survive on just one meal a day. He had seen poverty up close and the helplessness of the underprivileged and the marginalised. And that’s why, from a very young age, he wanted to support the poor and the needy.
“It is during one of the feeding drives, I saw so many old people coming just for a morsel of food. They’re too old to work and without anyone to take care of them, they have been starving for days. This feeding drive was the only ray of hope for them. My eyes welled up with tears as I saw them suffer. This was when I realised that I want to do something for the old and abandoned souls,” - Paluri Siddhartha.
They deserve to live a life of happiness and respect, I am trying my best to give them that
They started in 2014 and for the past 9 years, they have dedicated their lives to the service of abandoned old people. Currently, Siddhartha and his wife, Sudha Rani are taking care of around 40 elderly who have no one to take care of them in Vavilavalsa village in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. The husband-wife duo feeds them nutritious meals thrice a day and provides them with temporary shelter too. Sudha is impaired hearing and mute and has to fight her own set of challenges but not even a single day has passed when she hasn’t looked after the residents of the shelter.
“I still remember the day when I found Varalakshmi in a terrible condition - all alone and scared. The poor woman’s husband had passed away and she had no one to help her cremate him. I helped her out and brought her to our shelter. Her gratitude filled our hearts with joy. Varalakshmi is not different from my amma and I want to help many more like her.”
Here’s how you can help this husband-wife duo continue their noble work
Talking about their challenges, Siddhartha says that he has to procure groceries and other essentials from a market 10 km away. He doesn’t have a proper two-wheeler and often getting these day-to-day requirements becomes a big challenge. So, they are desperately in need of a scooter. Apart from that, they’re also in need of groceries and hygiene supplies for the elderly residents - any support would go a long way in making their lives easier.
“We are also planning to build a better and bigger home for our residents. It would be really nice if all of you donate towards construction materials as well. These elderly residents are in the final years of their lives and they deserve happiness and peace. Please help us give them a better life.”
About Siddhartha and Sudha Rani - This husband-wife duo in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh is working day and night for 40+ abandoned elderly and giving them a better life. With your help, they can feed them warm meals and bring back the smiles on their faces.
