One Blanket Can Change Winter For A Senior In Need. Donate A Blanket.
Project
As winter sets in across India, most of us pull out our warm clothes and wrap ourselves in comfort. But for thousands of elderly and destitute people, the cold is not just a season. It is a threat to survival.
For those who are abandoned, living alone, or without family support, winter becomes the harshest time of the year. Thin shawls, leaking roofs, and empty stomachs offer little protection against the biting cold. Many are forced to sleep on bare floors, huddled in corners, waiting for the night to pass.
In Dhanbad, The Elderly Brace The Cold Alone
In the mining belts of Dhanbad, where temperatures dip sharply, elderly people who once worked as daily wage labourers now spend their final years in distress.
With failing health and no steady income, even a single blanket becomes a luxury.
Most live in small rooms made of tin or mud with no insulation and no source of warmth. Their trembling hands and frail bodies struggle to endure long, freezing nights. Some survive only on tea and small portions of food shared by neighbours and many have no one at all.
“Sometimes I feel the nights are longer than my life,” whispers Shanta Devi, 79, from a settlement near Jharia. “I sit with my back against the wall and wait for the sun. I just want a little warmth so I can sleep without fear.”
There are thousands more like her. Forgotten, unseen, and silently suffering.
This Winter, Your Support Can Save Lives
A warm blanket, a winter jacket, or a pair of woollen socks is not just an item of comfort.
For the elderly, it is a shield against life-threatening cold.
With your help, Donatekart and our partner NGOs are distributing:
Blankets
Winter jackets
Woollen caps and socks
These essentials can protect the elderly from the severe drop in temperature and help them survive the winter with dignity.
You Can Make Their Winter Less Cruel
No one deserves to spend their final years shivering in silence.
This winter, let us stand by those who have no one left.
Donate warmth. Restore hope. Even one blanket can change a life.
