On August 26–27, 2025, Punjab witnessed one of its worst natural disasters since 1988. Relentless rains triggered floods that submerged more than 1,300 villages, leaving over 2.5 lakh people displaced. Families lost their homes, farms, livestock, and everything they had built over generations.

In districts like Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, and Amritsar, the damage has been devastating. More than 9,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed, and thousands of families are now living in temporary shelters.
