5 Lives Lost, Several Washed Away. Stand With The Victims of Uttarakhand Cloudburst
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
On August 5, 2025, a devastating cloudburst tore through Dharali village near Gangotri in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. In less than 20 seconds, a wall of water, mud, and debris rushed down from the hills, sweeping away homes, hotels, shops, and everything in its path.
At least four people have lost their lives, and around 50 are missing under debris or swept away by the floodwaters.
“We were asleep when we heard a roar. In minutes, water was everywhere. We grabbed what we could and ran uphill,” recalls Suresh, a resident who lost his home.
Roads are blocked, bridges have been damaged, and entire stretches of the valley are cut off. Rescue teams from SDRF, NDRF, and the Army are working tirelessly, but continuous rainfall is making operations extremely difficult.
In shelters, survivors are still in shock. “It was like the mountain broke apart,” says Pooja Devi, now taking refuge in a temporary camp after losing her house. The situation remains critical. A red alert has been issued for Uttarkashi and neighboring districts, with more heavy rainfall forecast. Villages remain cut off, and essentials are scarce.
Right now, there is an urgent need for:
- Fresh meals for displaced families
- Shelter kits with tarpaulins and blankets
- Safe drinking water and hygiene supplies
- Emergency medical care for the injured
“We have nothing left. Only hope that someone will help,” says a victim who watched his home being washed away.
The people of Uttarakhand are in urgent need of relief. Your support can bring food, shelter, and hope to families who have lost everything overnight.
Stand with Uttarakhand today. Donate now. Every moment counts.
