Punjab's Worst Flood in Decades. Stand with Flood Survivors to Rebuild Hope
Project
On August 26-27, 2025, devastating floods struck Punjab, submerging more than 1,744 villages and impacting the lives of over 3.5 lakh people across the state. Relentless rains and overflowing rivers washed away homes, farmlands, and vital supplies, leaving thousands of families to face displacement and loss in what has become Punjab’s most severe flood since 1988.
More than 50 lives have been lost, and countless families in districts like Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Amritsar, and Fazilka now face an uncertain future. “My fields are gone… I know I might not be able to sow anything for another year until the soil becomes fertile again,” shares Jaspreet Singh, a farmer from Gurdaspur.
Across the state, over 9,000 houses are damaged or destroyed, and 1,48,000 hectares of agricultural land are underwater. As floodwaters slowly recede, the need for immediate support and long-term rebuilding grows deeper with each day.
What Flood Survivors Need Now
Relief kits: Blankets, mosquito nets, bedsheets, clothing, and ready-to-eat meals for stranded families
Hygiene supplies: Soap, disinfectants, safe drinking water, and medical kits to prevent outbreaks
Temporary shelters: Waterproof tarpaulins and beds to give families safety and dignity
Boats and rescue equipment: To reach and evacuate those still isolated by high waters
How Donatekart Is Reaching Punjab
The Donatekart Foundation, along with its on-ground partners, is channeling urgent aid straight to those affected. Relief kits are being procured and airlifted, and boats are deployed across Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Ferozepur, and other flood-ravaged districts, helping to rescue families, deliver supplies, and create safe spaces in schools and gurudwaras that have become relief centers.
“We see volunteers of all faiths working day and night to help out. Even families who have lost everything are offering us what little they have left, like milk from their flooded kitchens,” says a relief coordinator supported by Donatekart.
Health camps, clean water stations, and mosquito nets are also being set up to prevent outbreaks of waterborne disease, while rescue operations focus on bringing stranded people, pregnant women, children, and the elderly to safe ground.
