The Crisis

Every year, the devastating floods in Assam wash away homes, livelihoods, and a sense of security. While massive efforts are rightfully mobilized to rescue and rehabilitate human communities, the silent victims of this disaster are often left behind: the animals.

Thousands of cattle, goats, pigs, and stray dogs and cats are currently stranded on high ground, isolated by rising waters, and completely cut off from their food sources. Livestock are the backbone of rural livelihoods here, and watching them starve is a second tragedy for families who have already lost so much. Stray and abandoned animals are fighting a losing battle against hunger, exhaustion, and disease.

Our Mission

We at Rakta Sanjeevani have always worked at the grassroots level to protect and uplift our communities across Assam, particularly around Jorhat and surrounding districts. Now, our volunteer teams are on the ground navigating challenging terrains to reach these stranded animals.

We are conducting daily feeding drives and medical checks, but we cannot do it alone. The scale of the devastation is massive, and our supplies are running dangerously low.
