Project
For the last 10 years, 43 YO Dadasaheb Gaikwad has been waking up in the morning with just one mission in his mind. He wants to help more and more people who have been abandoned by the roadside and are in no condition to look after themselves. Once a cab driver in Pune, Gaikwad believes that his daily acts of kindness, although small, are sure to make a difference in the lives of people.
How did it all start
Gaikwad has always been a person who would share his meals with people on the road. He believes that kindness is the glue that holds us together in a world that is filled with pain and suffering. This is his story.
“My wife would pack my lunch and I would be giving away most of it to people who have been starving for days. How could I not? So when my wife found out, she started packing extra lunch. Soon, I realised that helping people gave me happiness and purpose. And even when I was fired from my job, I didn’t think of stopping this work,” - Dadasaheb Gaikwad.
He has helped thousands of people in the last 10 years and has sent them back home. This is something that he wishes to continue doing.
“I once met a sick man by the side of the road with no one to help him. I immediately took him to the hospital and admitted him. Then I stayed by his side till he got better. I realised that besides food and medicine, people also need the support of their loved ones. So I always try my best to unite them with their families. But for those unfortunate ones who are alone in this world, I want to be with them while they’re recovering or are in their final years by keeping them in my home.”
This noble effort now needs your support
Gaikwad has been doing this noble work for the last 10 years but now he needs your help to look after the people beside the roadside and give them the basic necessities.
You can donate walking sticks, knee caps, medicines, soaps and other hygiene products and help Dadasaheb give them a life of dignity and honour.
