Warm Clothes & Meals Can Bring Back The Lost Smiles On Their Faces, Support SPYM

The chilly winters of Delhi are infamous. Each year, we hear about hundreds of homeless people who have died braving the cold winter waves. While we are all cuddled up in our homes  with warm clothes and good food, there are so many on the streets who don’t even have the means to afford a single meal or a blanket. 

Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM), Delhi, has been working for over 30 long years to help feed the underprivileged and give them a roof above their heads.  They are a national organisation with a countrywide network, who focus on community mobilization, health care and socio-economic development for the last three decades. 

How is SPYM supporting the ones in need? 

SPYM is the largest shelter provider for the homeless in the NCT of Delhi. With over 30 years of experience working with marginalised communities in Delhi, SPYM has been mandated to manage over 65 night shelters for the homeless by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. 

“We have shelters for the homeless in the Central, South and South West Districts of Delhi where we take care of their everyday needs of approximately 5500-6000 homeless children, women, men and senior citizens on a daily basis.We give them nutritional food, shelter, protection, medical care as well as make them aware of the various government schemes. We also help them learn new skills so that they can get jobs and be financially independent,” - Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director at Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses.

SPYM wants to feed the ones in need and give warm clothes to those who can’t even afford two square meals a day. Their relentless efforts and superb determination has been bearing fruits for over 30 years now and they’re a name to reckon with in the social sector.
