Support Nayasawera's Mission for Trafficked Boys and Restore Lost Childhoods
Project
“He was just a child but was raped thrice. Burnt with cigarettes from head to toe, even his tongue. One night in sheer desperation, he jumped from the first-floor window to escape because he thought even death was better than that torture. Limping in pain, he dragged himself to the main road until someone found him and handed him over to us. It took us months of gentle care to reach the child inside him again.” - Akhilesh, founder of Naya Sawera Shelter Home.
That raid was covered by NDTV. But the true aftermath, the healing, the therapy, the rebuilding happened quietly, day after day, at Naya Sawera Shelter Home.
1,000 young boys with 1,000 stories of survival and second chances
Back in college, Akhilesh had no NGO, team, or roadmap—just a heart full of compassion. Every weekend, he’d step into the slums armed only with kindness, teaching lessons, sharing meals, and offering a semblance of hope to children the world had forgotten.
In 2018, he opened Naya Sawera Shelter Home - a safe lifeline for male children and teens who had been trafficked, abused, beaten, and buried in invisible chains of child labour.
Most of them had never stepped inside a school, hugged a parent or even dared to dream
Since then, he has rescued and rehabilitated over 1,000 boys found working in sweatshops, begging at railway stations, forced to manufacture bangles for 18 hours a day just to earn one stale meal.
The mute boy who couldn’t speak but yet told everything
The next morning, he met me, and in that moment, we became friends. He spent hours drawing pictures to share his story, including one of me. After searching, we found a missing report for him and were able to reunite him with his family.
He never spoke, but he told me everything. I will always remember his face. I don’t need words to remember him. I see him in every silent child who comes to us, hoping to be heard.
Naya Sawera is more than a shelter, it's where boys remember what it means to be children
These children need healthy food, clean clothes, hygiene kits, therapy, educational stationery, and most importantly, support and safety.
Contribute and help Akhilesh to rescue more boys from darkness, so their childhood is free from pain and full of hope.
