Saviour Of The Homeless & Abandoned, Irudiya Raj Now Needs Help To Impact More Lives

Story of the changemaker

Irudiya Raj is a person like no other. Ask anyone who knows him, and they will tell you that he has been selfless from a very young age. Even though his family struggled to make ends meet, Irudiya Raj was always looking for ways to help others in need.

“Growing up, we didn’t have much. When my mother used to cook food, I would sneak some out to give it to the homeless people I would see. Slowly everyone realized what was happening because we had less food for all of us at home. But I just couldn’t help it, every time I would see someone helpless, I wanted to share whatever I had with them.” - Idurdiya Raj, Founder, Care Shelter

Irudiya Raj’s kindness and empathy didn’t stop there. He eventually started Care Shelter in Bangalore and transformed the lives of many. With the motto ‘In God’s creation, no one should be an orphan or destitute’, he works tirelessly to help everyone and anyone he can.

Irudiya Raj Now Has A Family Of 50 Who Rely On Him

Care Shelter is a home for the physically challenged, mentally challenged, senior citizens, the homeless, orphans and anyone in need. It’s a safe and secure place where Irudiya Raj looks after them with utmost love and dedication. Here they are given proper food, shelter, clothing, medication and care. There’s nothing that Irudiya Raj doesn’t do for them - from bathing them to feeding them, his whole life is now about his family of 50 at the shelter.

“I couldn’t complete my education due to our financial condition. So I started working as a carpenter. My friends and I started feeding people on the streets, giving them blankets and more. But we soon realized that these people were in no condition to look after themselves. Care Shelter was started with just 2 residents, and now we’ve seen it all - people who are abandoned, injured, covered in maggots… they all have very painful stories.”

Irudiya Raj wants to leave no stone unturned when it comes to looking after the 50 people currently under his care. He started Care Shelter with the help of his family and friends, and now he needs your support to continue his work.

Your Support Can Save Lives

For the countless people he has impacted throughout his life, Irudiya Raj is now less than a lifesaver. He looks after each and every resident as his own and doesn’t let his own challenges come in the way of this. Despite the pandemic behind a hurdle, Irudiya Raj continued to care for them to the best of his abilities. However, he can’t do it on his own anymore.

“I need your support to get groceries and medicines, it’s the only way I can give them a healthier life. Most of them suffer from illnesses and need to be taken to the hospital frequently. The people we pick up from the streets also need urgent medical care. So far we’ve been taking them in autos. We need your help to get an ambulance so that we can give them the timely care they need.”

Your support will help Irudiya Raj look after the 50+ residents at Care Shelter and help many more people who are left abandoned on the streets.

About the NGO: Care Shelter was started by Irudiya Raj in Bangalore to help the physically challenged, mentally challenged, homeless, destitute, senior citizens, orphans and anyone in need.
