Help BASS feed the poor and unfortunate amidst Corona Outbreak

Osmangunj is a locality in Hyderabad, that is home to some thousands of daily wage workers. Ever since the CoronaVirus Outbreak, the poor families residing there have been out of jobs. Moreover, their earnings had been so miniscule that unlike us, they barely have any savings. Their nature of work has left them helpless amidst the pandemic and they cannot earn a single penny despite abundant efforts and wish to do so.

“I am not called to work anymore. In fact, they’ve said I am not required until further notice. Given the present situation, I don’t know how long I’d have to sit at home without any earnings.” Says Satya, a sanitation worker inhabiting a slum in the region.

It is not only Satya’s story. There are a thousand other daily wage workers living in the neighborhood, praying for the pandemic to be over at the soonest. Most of them are feeding their children with the little they’re left with while keeping their own stomachs empty for days. How long can they survive this way?

Given the ever-rising need for help across the country, various NGOs have come to their rescue. Bhagyanagar Ayyappa Seva Samithi (BASS) in Hyderabad have stretched their helping hands out to these people in need. They require grocery kits to distribute among the daily wage workers everyday.
