This Man Has Been Rescuing The Poor And The Homeless In Delhi For The Last 17 Years, Join His Mission

“When we took in Anand, he was a challenged young boy who had lost his limbs in an accident. He was an addict who was heavily dependent on substances. He had no hopes of going to school or living a better life. But today, he is going to school, dreaming of a happier future and nothing makes me happier than seeing people like him turn a new leaf,” - Father Ravindra, Founder, Antyodaya Niketan.

Antyodaya Niketan is a shelter home near the Kashmere Gate Metro Station, New Delhi that has over 65 male residents who have no one to care for them. The organisation rescues them from terrible conditions and gives them the support they need to live the life they deserve. 

With kindness and compassion, Father Ravindra is changing the lives of countless in need 

Father Ravindra is often called the ‘Mother Teresa of Delhi’ and rightfully so. This kind-hearted man has dedicated his entire life to the service of all those who are poor, homeless, and forced to live on the streets. 

“I was fortunate to meet Mother Teresa, who inspired me to help the poor and the downtrodden. I worked with her closely for at least two decades and learned a lot from the love and compassion she had for everyone in society. Inspired by her and following in her spirit, I started the shelter home called Antyodaya Niketan.” 

While the organisation was established formally in 2006, Father has been working day and night for the upliftment of the underprivileged. The shelter home feeds nutritious meals to the residents, looks after their medical needs, and gives them a purpose in their lives. The ones in their terminal stages receive the love and care they need. Antyodaya Niketan has also worked extensively to educate the underprivileged and free them of fatal abuses. They distribute blankets and warm clothes during the cold Delhi winters. 

“While we have received many supporters, there are so many out there who need our support and often we face a financial crisis. We have reunited so many broken families and the joy and happiness in their eyes reminds me each time why I should continue this work.”
