Arthur Needs Your Support To Give 300+ Strays A Safe Home During Cyclone Fengal

The skies over Puducherry haven’t stopped pouring. The Union Territory has experienced its heaviest rainfall in 30 years, with Cyclone Fengal leaving an unparalleled trail of destruction. Streets are flooded, lives have been lost, and the city has come to a standstill. 

Amid this chaos, over 300 voiceless strays at Auroville Dog Shelter are fighting to survive 

These dogs—abandoned, blind, paralysed, and elderly—have lost the only home they ever knew. Their enclosures are submerged, food stocks destroyed, and their feeding areas washed away. The clinic meant to heal them has now become their overcrowded refuge.

Arthur, the shelter manager, shares, “It’s raining constantly, and we have run out of dry cloth and cardboard to save these dogs from hypothermia. Our team has gone out into the storms, pleading with people for help. But we’re running out of time.”

Just a year ago, Arthur and his team transformed this broken-down shelter into a safe home for these strays. But Cyclone Fengal has undone it all, leaving the dogs to suffer in freezing rain and flooded conditions.
