Guru Prasad Has Transformed The Lives Of Countless Abandoned & Orphaned Kids, Support Him
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
“One child was a substance addict when he came to us. He must have been just 9 or 10 years old, and he had no one to look after him. We took him in, gave him the counseling and rehabilitation he needed and today he’s in class 10 and thriving. He wants to be a mechanical engineer one day, and we’re here to support all his dreams. We’ve seen so many children like this, some have lost both parents, some have been abandoned by their families...they’ve been through immense pain. My aim is to give them the healthy and wholesome life they deserve.” - Guru Prasad, Founder, Adarane Charitable Trust
Ever since it was founded in 2005 in Bangalore, Guru Prasad has adopted several children who have been abandoned, orphaned, or abused and given them food, shelter, an education and above all, love. He now needs your support to continue this selfless service and improve the lives of these children in need.
Guru’s Own Struggles Motivated Him To Make A Difference To Others
Born into a poor family, Guru Prasad has struggled ever since he was a little boy. He was only in class 5 when he started working to support his family. He would work as a labourer, sell flowers, eggs, and do anything that helped him earn a living.
“My father was illiterate and my mother suffered from a heart condition. There were days when we had only one meal between us. We would share that meal and go to bed hungry. Sometimes for days. That was my life - no food, no money and no education. Having been through so much myself, I knew I didn’t want any other child to suffer like I did.”
Guru Prasad’s journey of helping children in need began when he started taking free tuitions for children who had dropped out of school, were deserted, or had parents who were HIV+. He would teach them in his own house. In 2005, he started Adarane Charitable Trust with just three children, and today they have changed the lives of countless children.
Along with this, Guru also has health awareness programs and community development programs for those from rural areas and lower economic backgrounds.
He Needs Your Support To Help These Children
Guru currently has 25 children in the orphanage called Shine Children’s Home, under the Adarane Charitable Trust. Along with food and shelter, these children are given uniforms, books, bags, shoes, medical care, among others. Guru also ensures they learn life skills along with their academic learning. At a time when these children had nothing and no one, Guru gave them a new lease of life.
“All these children are all so unique and talented. They can have a bright future ahead if they get the right kind of support. The pandemic made it very difficult for me to continue my work. We didn’t have proper food, no donors or visitors and hardly any access to medical care. But I didn’t give up. I will do everything in my power for these children.”
However, this time, Guru needs your help. With your support, he will be able to give these children healthy meals, stationery, sports equipment, and other items that will help their overall growth and development.
You can be the reason these orphaned and abandoned children have the best life possible.
