Struggling All By Themselves, These Abandoned Senior Citizens Need Help To Survive

“I was very young when I lost my father and I have seen my mother struggle to put food on our table. My childhood hasn’t been easy and I have seen suffering up close. That is why I decided to serve the poor and the needy as soon as possible. This was the inspiration for starting the Art Of Helping Foundation in 2018,” - Deepankar Patil, Founder.  

Today the organisation, serves more than 70 elderly in Pune who have no one to look after their needs. They give them nutritious food, dry ration kits, and the essential medicines they need to survive.  

They’re no less than family to me and I want to give them a better life 

Deepankar and his team have been visiting the old and the abandoned in the slums of Pune, listening to their problems and trying to give them some relief. During their visits, Deepankar meets so many people who have given up on their lives. They’re hopeless and waiting to die. 

“Their condition pains me. These people have worked so hard all their lives only to be left alone in their old age. Some are forced to beg on the streets for food while others depend on the kindness of others to survive.” 

Art Of Helping Foundation is a ray of hope for all these senior citizens. They’re working to give them a life of happiness and respect and be the emotional support they need at this age. Deepankar says that it is so satisfying to see them smile and bless the volunteers after they receive the food kits for the month. And it is this feeling of satisfaction that pushes Deepankar and his team to reach out to many more elderly in need. But for that, he needs your support.
